In short: Before transport: leave a quarter tank of fuel, remove personal items and loose accessories, note any existing marks with photos, disable the alarm if it is sensitive, and keep roughly half a tank of charge for EVs. Have a spare key ready for the driver.
The pre-transport checklist
- ▸Fuel: leave about a quarter tank — enough to load and unload, not so much it adds weight.
- ▸Personal items: remove valuables, documents and loose items from the cabin and boot.
- ▸Condition record: take clear, dated photos of all sides and any existing marks.
- ▸Alarm: disable or note any sensitive alarm or tracker that may trigger.
- ▸Tyres and fluids: check tyres are inflated and flag any major leaks.
- ▸Custom kit: retract aerials, fold mirrors and note any aftermarket or fragile parts.
- ▸Keys: provide a working key, and mention any immobiliser or transport mode.
For electric vehicles
For EVs, leave roughly 50% charge so the car can be moved on and off the trailer comfortably, and let us know if the car has a specific transport or tow mode. We handle Teslas, Taycans and other EVs regularly.
For classics and non-runners
For classics, tell us about any starting quirks, weak batteries or delicate trim. For non-runners, let us know whether the car rolls, steers and brakes — we use winches and hydraulic trailers to load it safely either way.
On collection day
The driver will carry out a condition inspection with you and log it on a report you both sign. With your photos and our report, the car's condition is fully documented from collection to delivery.
